Another bright and beautiful day on Thursday, Day 5 of our 2011 Texada KSE Daycamp. We took a trip to Mouat Creek to see baby salmon where they are born and grow. They are a cool animal, and here on Texada people help protect the salmon's spawning grounds and nurture the process.
We also made fun progress on our animal painting project and found new rhythms in related to animal movement. Our journals record what a lot we learned and what fun we had today!
Volunteer Rob Diggon led us to Mouat Creek where we saw baby salmon and were able to catch some to look at them closely before returning them to the creek. The hike in was fun, too, through a beautiful area!
We got to try out different drums and explored rhythms in how animals move. We are animals, too!
Our craft project went to the next level today, bringing out the hidden animal in our individual outline forms. Craft volunteers Petra Hart and Mary Loepke rock!
